Greek Yogurt with Walnuts & Honey
Both sweet and tangy, smooth and crunchy - Yiaourti Me Meli (greek yogurt with honey and walnuts) - is all about contrasting flavors and textures. On both my trips exploring the Greek Islands, temperatures soared - and I loved ending my meals on a cool, fresh note with this dessert.
This recipe is so simple it can be prepared in minutes - though I recommend taking the time to toast the nuts to intensify their flavor ! Full-fat Greek yogurt is traditionally used for its creamier, richer texture, as well as thyme honey; you could even add a dash of cinnamon to sweeten the pot. High in protein and omega 3’s, yiaourti me meli can also make for a nutritious snack or breakfast
Looks like we have one last little burst of summer (supposed to be 89 degrees this week) - cool down with this refreshing sweet treat !
Yiaourti me Meli (Greek Yogurt with Walnuts & Honey)
2 cups greek full-fat yogurt
1 cup toasted walnuts
½ cup honey
Preheat oven to 350˚F. Spread walnuts evenly on a baking sheet and cook for 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they’re golden and aromatic. Transfer to a small bowl to cool, then coat with honey.
Scoop 2 cups greek yogurt into small bowls or dessert cups, then top with honey-coated walnuts, and a drizzle of honey.
